Western Cape Scouts
URGENT NOTICES REGARDING FIRES
Hawequas is currently being affected by the Wellington fire which has encroached into the Adventure Centre and therefore is CLOSED FOR VISITORS until further notice with immediate effect.
Scout Mountain Club
All open fires have been banned at the SMC hut with immediate effect and until further notice. Only gas may be used for cooking. No charcoal, ecology or open fire of any sort is being allowed inside the hut as a safety precaution given the very dry and high risk period we are currently in.
A good time to remind all your members and families no open fires/flames (incl gas) are allowed in the Western Cape mountain areas unless at designated campsites, and after checking with the local rangers.
Senior Scout Adventure Cederberg
The Senior Scout Adventure will feed some 600 people for 12 days in December. To do this food must be packed in specific order and in specific boxes for distribution to the patrols and the bases. The Adventure needs help on the 3rd of December and possibly the 4th (Saturday and Sunday) to pack the food into the boxes. Packing will start at 8am on the Saturday at the 3rd Pinelands Scout hall and, if we get enough help, it can all be done in one day which would be an awesome result.
We are appealing for scouts and other helpers (parents, siblings, friends) to come along on Saturday the 3rd from 8am and get the packing done in just one day. Lunch will be provided but it would be helpful to have numbers for catering purposes. So please get your scouts to volunteer and join us on the 3rd December at 3rd Pinelands scout hall, even if it is just for a few hours at a time. Let us know if you can come, numbers and times.
